Octoprint and/or Creality Cloud

Hi All

I'm new to 3D printing and I have one printer, Creality Ender 3 V3 KE, and still learning.

I love the ability to use the Creality Cloud to remotely start and stop prints. I have a webcam (not integrated) next to my printer that I use to monitor prints, and if anything goes wrong, I can stop the print using the Creality Cloud App.

I use Orca for all my slicing but want to be able to connect Orca directly to my printer so that I don’t need to export and upload gcode files for every print.

BUT, I don’t want to lose the ability to remotely control my printer via the Creality Cloud.

Will rooting with OctoPrint sever my cloud binding with Creality? Is this an either-or trade-off?

Any advice appreciated.

Hello @MatthysDT !

The

runs on Creality's crippled Klipper version.

Connecting it to OctoPrint is a (IMHO) senseless undertaking.

Even "rooting" it does not help at all.

The most elegant way would be to get a new printer board for the printer and a Raspberry Pi for OctoPrint. For Octopront there are actually a some plugins for remote control.
