A hardware requirement for OctoPrint is a serial connection between the host and the printer. If you don't have that, you can't run OctoPrint.

I'd suggest you purchase a Raspberry Pi Zero 2. You can find kits that include a power supply, case, and microSD card. Other options would be a Raspberry Pi 3B+ or a Raspberry Pi 4.

Please tell us what model 3D printer, what type of USB port it has, and which RPi so we can recommend a compatible USB cable.
