Was chrome OS already up there? I think that it uses linux. It also has a great interface.
I use Linux Mint because its desktop feels similar enough to Windows that I'm comfortable using it. I believe it is a based on Ubuntu (which is based on Debian).
...and Windows' design was a rip-off of Apple's at the time, of course. And Apple's was "inspired" by Xerox PARC.

Linux Mint
Linux Mint
Linux Mint is based on Ubuntu LTS (Long Term Support) releases and uses the Cinnamon desktop environment by default, but it also comes in MATE and Xfce editions. The main difference between Linux Mint and Ubuntu is that Linux Mint comes with more pre-installed software and offers paid support options through its website.
Fedora
Fedora is another popular distribution based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). Fedora shares much of its code with RHEL but has its own repositories, which means you can install software directly from Fedora's servers instead of having to rely on third parties like Canonical (for Ubuntu).
