For the first time since getting Octoprint I connected the lan network it runs on to my wifi router and let it update. Everything seemed to go smooth except the Arc Welder plugin has errors in the update pane, and does not show what version is installed anywhere, as reported by other users in this forum.
I've used the Arc Welder plugin in Octoprint to control my CR10 for a couple of years, along with a "Hyper Fast" Cura profile I found on someone's Youtube channel, and it makes the CR10 very fast for such an old printer. When I load a file into Octoprint I see Arc Welder make that file size smaller and the print time faster, so I like having it. I also see that the Arc Welder plugin hasn't been maintained for several years, so I have two questions.
Is there a newer or better plugin that does the same job?
or
I see there is also a plugin for Cura, Would it be better to run Arc Welder in Cura rather than Octoprint?
Don't think it has needed any updates. I use SuperSlicer and run the standalone ArcWelder as a post processor script from that. That lets me do fancy stuff like rotate and scale before Welding.
Thanks, it's good to know that Arc Welder is still a good plugin. I still don't know what version of Arc Welder is installed on my Octoprint but seeing that it hasn't been updated in a few years, and I've only been using it a couple of years, I likely have the latest version and it has been working well for me. I'll just keep on doing what I've been doing.
Thanks. I found the version in the Octoprint log and it is 1.0.something. I think the latest was 1.1 so I will try to upgrade. The version was not listed in the plugins manager. If fact I check five other plugins and only found the version listed on one. I'm guessing it only shows up there if the programmer sets it up.
