I like Mattercontrol, I use it on my Ender 3 and it produces very good prints. Is there a way that I can send the gcode directly to the printer via octoprint?

The good news is that MatterControl supports a very large number of printers, the bad news is that GCode to file output is difficult at best.
Good news is a (growing) number of slicers are supporting OctoPrint as a "printer" using the API that OctoPrint supplies, the bad news is that MatterControl isn't one of those slicers.
