I couldn't get my webcam to work with octoprint, but I could get it to stream with motion, so I've just installed motion along with octopi and it can take a stream from that. Is this ok to do, or is there any kind of known issue that I've not read about? I don't want to push the RPI so much that it freezes or something mid print.
Well I would say if the cpu usage isn't too high you will be fine.
Keep in mind that the 3+ starts downclocking at 60°C
Would that affect a print though?
No that's still fine. But when you get to 70°C+ it will throttle and that could cause stuttering.

I am using Octoprint and motion,
I can see the stream via external ip address, however i cannot get the stream active in the octoprint control panel (i have the config completed),, any ideas.??
