Smart Filament Sensor shutting down hot end

I'm having an issue and I'm not sure if it's Octoprint or the Marlin firmware. Printer is a CR-10.
When the smart filament sensor pauses the print the hot end shuts down even though the target temp is still set for 215°. When I try to adjust the temp or resume the print I get the warning.
"Your printer's firmware reported an error. Due to that OctoPrint will disconnect. Reported error: Heating failed, system stopped! Heater_ID: 0 - Printer halted. kill() called!". Then it reboots the printer loosing all progress. Does anyone have an idea why it is doing this? Thanks
