Awe, man. This would have been so epic, spinning up a Docker image on a MacBook, for example, so that you could edit the ext4 partition on a microSD for Raspbian/OctoPi.

I have not used it myself but IIRC you can mount ext with free open source FUSE For MACOS .. should work for ext2, ext3 and ext4 ... bunch of projects that were adding fs features to osx merged into that one so it's worth a look.
now there is also extFS for Mac by Paragon but €40 per seat!!

Sweet. That would save me some time. (I usually bring up an Ubuntu laptop for that sort of stuff now.)
