Hi,
I am using a Wanhao Duplicator i3 Plus. It has a firmware based on Marlin but Thermal Protection is disabled. Because of that and of other reasons, I have build my own firmware and I have enabled the thermal protection. I have also published my firmware for a while and very often, I have users complaining because they get the "Thermal Runaway Error" screen. I explain each time that it may be a serious sign of hardware defect, I have tune the protection parameters (to avoid triggering because of the electronic noise when reading temperature), but people continue to complain. So, I have made the protection optional. It in on by default, but you can disable it (on the control panel of the printer). What do you think? I made my best to protect printers and users, but they are adults. If they do not care about safety (and they are informed of the consequences), it is their responsibility. Or am I wrong? What do you think?
