Anet A8 Extruder Temps Erratic

Hi all,

I've been running my Anet A8 for the last 6 months with no real issues on the stock firmware. A couple days ago I tried out OctoPrint, and right away I'm getting really erratic temps on my extruder. Using PLA, with the target temp set to 200, I'm seeing spikes of up to 250 and down to 175, which is making the prints look like plastic soup. Is there something I'm missing in the setup? Thanks in advance!

does it still work without issues via sd?
Maybe a wire broke or something.

But that's a behavior you want to stop asap.
It means your printers firmware doesn't have thermal runaway protection enabled.

I would suggest you update your firmware
