Yes, make a backup on your current version, download it, create the new image (on a new microSD card if possible), boot the new image, and restore the backup.
I recommend a new microSD card so if something goes wrong, you can recover by returning to the old card.
I also recommend keeping the username as "pi" but if you changed it on the current version, make sure to use the same username on the new one.
I believe that OctoKlipperPi is a packaged version of OctoPi with Klipper firmware and the OctoKlipper plugin preinstalled.
If that is the case, then you could start with the "experimental camera stack" version and install the OctoKlipper plugin manually. Not sure what is needed for the Klipper firmware install but you could open an issue here and ask.
Klipper can be installed the by KIAUH, but then OctoPrint is connecting on a different virtual USB-port.
