What is the problem?

SPOILER!! im a noob
I run Raspberry pi os on my Raspberry pi 2 model b because. It doesnt have wifi so i use a wifi dongle and raspberry pi os to give it wifi. I really want to run octoprint/pi on my Raspberry pi but i dont know if i can run them at the same time or what will happen.

What did you already try to solve it?

I haven't tried to solve it because im afraid it will ruin the progress i have made

Have you tried running in safe mode?

No, im a noob i dont know what safe mod is😅

You have to decide: the one or the other.
You can install OctoPrint onto your existing OS (GitHub - paukstelis/octoprint_deploy: Bash script for rapid deployment of multiple octoprint instance on a single machine).

Getting a new SD card and installing OctoPi on it is way more easy.

But - here comes the but:

A Pi2 and a WiFi dongle is a bit underrated for the use of OctoPi/OctoPrint.

You can try, but the use of certain plugins (like Octolapse) is very much limited.

Hi,
So I cant run them at the same time? It's just that if i uninstall Pi OS the dongle wont work and it wont have wifi. Also is it hard to install octoprint from the link? Im a noob so anything complicated is impossible to me:)

You have to distinguish OctoPi and OctoPrint:

  • OctoPi is a OS image for a Raspberry Pi that includes the 3D print server OctoPrint.
  • OctoPrint is the print server and can run on any system that can run Python 3

So OctoPrint does not run besides Pi OS, it runs upon it.
