What is the problem?
I cannot change the wifi info on the pi. This worked on my wifi, but I'm giving my printer to my son and I cannot get it to connect to his wifi.
What did you already try to solve it?
I went to edit the octopi-wpa-supplicant.txt, but it doesn't exist. I found octopi-network.txt. But that file says Using this file to configure your network connection is no longer supported. Please use wifi.nmconnection instead.
So I opened that file using Notepad++ and followed the instructions there. The only thing I did was to uncomment all the lines except the first one and fill in his SSID and Password. This is my new wifi.nmconnection file:
# Uncomment everything below this line and set your ssid and password
[connection]
id=wifi
uuid=593819b8-135a-4a3e-9611-c36cdeadbeef
type=wifi
interface-name=wlan0
[wifi]
mode=infrastructure
ssid=<his SSID>
[wifi-security]
auth-alg=open
key-mgmt=wpa-psk
psk=<his password>
[ipv4]
method=auto
[ipv6]
addr-gen-mode=default
method=auto
[proxy]
I cannot connect to the pi and it's not connecting to the router.
Have you tried running in safe mode?
I cannot communicate with it.
Did running in safe mode solve the problem?
I cannot communicate with it.
Systeminfo Bundle
You can download this in OctoPrint's System Information dialog ... no bundle, no support!)
I cannot communicate with it.
Additional information about your setup
OctoPrint version, OctoPi version, printer, firmware, browser, operating system, ... as much data as possible
I'm not sure, but it was the latest versions that I downloaded and installed in November 2025. I had updated it at that time to get the latest Python version. It connected to my network, and I had no issues with it. But it won't connect to my son's wifi even after editing the wifi.nmconnection file. I've double- and triple-checked the SSID and Password. I can connect my laptop and phone to his network, but I cannot get the pi to connect. I've logged into the router, and there is no connection to the pi.
I've searched the forum, but I cannot find anyone having issues with setting the new wifi with wifi.nmconnection. There are some older posts when it was octopi-wpa-supplicant.txt or octopi-network.txt. Sorry if I missed it somewhere.
