Can't connect to printer anymore via Octoprint (Timeout while try)

What is the problem?

Setup: Ender3 + SKR 1.3 + Pi 4b

Before i had a Pi3b+ working fine with octoprint, then i upgraded to a pi4b, reinstalled octopi, restore the backup and configured the env. I had an ideia that the connection worked and i was able to move the printer axis when i first reinstall everything, but not sure anymore...
Btw: i did the exact same thing (re-setup pi4b) with Prusa MK3 and got no problems, but i have diferent plugins and configurations

What did you already try to solve it?

  1. Safe mode
  2. Other USB cable
  3. Reflash firmware and try diferent bauds
  4. Other USB ports
  5. Bump marlin firmware to latest master

Have you tried running in safe mode?

Yes

Did running in safe mode solve the problem?

No

Could you also run sudo rpi-eeprom-update and post the output?
There is an older version of the VL805 firmware that got some issues.

You can also try to update to the latest version of the VL805 firmware.
If you want to do that you should boot the latest Raspberry Pi OS, update it with sudo apt update && sudo apt -y upgrade && sudo reboot and then update the firmware with sudo rpi-eeprom-update -a

run all that but without solving the problem, in fact i already had everything up-to-date

I just tried to swap sdcard's, from MK3 into Ender3 Pi, and it works, connected without problems.
So i guess i'm with a damaged instalation? Anything i can try before reformat the sdcard?

Edit: I have the time so i formated the scard, it works, but as soon i restore the backup it stop connecting. However this time i got the temperature messages but it keep Connecting forever without timeout: https://i.imgur.com/LsYAS8G.png

My backup: REDACTED

@sn4k3 Do NOT share your backup publicly, it includes credentials that should stay secret! I've redacted it.

Looking at it however I don't see anything jumping out at me that would explain that. You have a bunch of plugins that could influence printer communication, but you said it also happens in safe mode.

The only thing I see in your connection logs is that there is nothing ever coming back from the printer. I'm currently unclear on how that could be caused by settings or plugins at all.

Thanks for looking, i will reinstall again and this time i will manually install plugins one by one and test out. I will report back.

Ok i tried what i said, and found the problem. Is with MeatPack, as soon it got installed printer no longer connects even on safe mode :frowning: I tried before to disable that plugin but it also prevent printer from connecting.
Now i tried to uninstall MeatPack but problem not solved by that, it wont connect anymore... It should be breaking something on setup process.
This also explains why Prusa MK3 instalation works because i dont have MeatPack there!

This is what i got after install MeatPack on normal mode:

ize=8, parity='N', stopbits=1, timeout=10.0, xonxoff=False, rtscts=False, dsrdtr=False), starting monitor

But that guy have better luck than me, since it broke the connection no matter if is disabled or in safe mode

I'm assuming if you are using MeatPack, you have the development branch of Marlin installed? You may need to disable meatpack in the firmware to properly test.

Yes i have.
Somehow i tried to update for today dev and it worked! only 4 commits behind compared to my config, last time i updated marlin (2 days ago) it didn't solve but now is working...

That's the nature of running the bugfix branch, sometimes things can break and be fixed quite quickly. Keep note of a known good build/commit for you, when you next update and have an issue roll back to the known good point.
