What is the problem
First layer print all of a sudden increases the Z by 4mm for 1/2 of the print
What did you already try to solve it?
Have you tried running in safe mode?
Did running in safe mode solve the problem?
dont think its a safe mode solution
upgraded to 1.9
OctoPrint: 1.9.0 , Version 1.0.0, running on Raspberry Pi 4 Model B Rev 1.2, firefox win 10
That doesn't mean it's not worth a try...
Please enable the serial.log, reproduce the issue and then share both the systeminfo bundle and the gcode file you have this issue with so we can compare.

thanks for your help
Hi Charlie any advise from the lofgs and sys info sent ?
Were your able to reproduce it while serial logging was enabled?
I don't see anything in the logs
the last height changing command was
2023-05-27 09:14:14,656 - Send: N32 G1 Z-2.7 F7800*12
and the last location report from the printer was 111ms before you paused the print
2023-05-27 09:15:19,756 - Recv: X:290.40 Y:157.33 Z:-2.70 E:41.76 Count X:23232 Y:12586 Z:-1557
The printer thought it's still at the same height.
You're welcome, but I haven't done anything yet?
