What is the problem?

I am trying to print from my phone to printer with using a cord as my connection to the printer and octo4a it's supposed to be my stand-in for not having built-in Wi-Fi in my 3D printer

What did you already try to solve it?

I have dug through Google, YouTube, everything to find a way to directly print from my phone to my 3D printer since I don't have built-in Wi-Fi it's a ender 3v3 SE printer and this is the only viable option I can find but I can't figure out how to get my G-Code onto octo print, I am going to my brows are on my phone like I'm supposed to but there's no option to be able to upload it there because when I click upload it does not bring up my files it does nothing at all!

Have you tried running in safe mode?

No I have not tried that I don't honestly even know what that is I don't understand safe mode I don't know that that would be my solution for this certain problem

Did running in safe mode solve the problem?

No it did not solve it because I have not tried that and I really don't know how that would help with this problem

Systeminfo Bundle

You can download this in OctoPrint's System Information dialog ... no bundle, no support!)

The 3D printer I'm using is the creality ender 3v3 SE, it doesn't have built in Wi-Fi, my laptop is broken so I cannot just simply connect it by USB cord / c chord directly to my laptop anymore because my screen is just my laptop is done it's fried it's not an option and so I need to be able to use octo4a that I downloaded to an old phone, but I just cannot get it to upload my G-Code I don't know why and I can't find any help anywhere so I'm begging somebody please please someone out there somewhere please help me because I have spent days and hours and I mean like weeks now trying to get this to work trying to get my printer going and I have shed many many tears many hours to trying to just dig and find help and answers and there's none out there and I know somebody somewhere has the answer and I am begging you to please help me

"upload it there because when I click upload it does not bring up my files it does nothing at all!"

That is a limitation of the browser you are using on your phone.
Your phone should bring up a dialog box that permits access to the files that are locally stored on the phone itself. If no dialog box appears either the phone/browser doesn't support uploads or the dialog pop-up is disabled or blocked on the phone.

You could try putting a different browser on the phone or using the Octopod App (it is free)

I’m really sorry you’re dealing with this, that sounds incredibly frustrating.

Short answer, this is not a printer issue, it’s a mobile browser and Android permission limitation with OctoPrint/octo4a.

On many phones, the Upload button in OctoPrint does nothing because the mobile browser cannot access local files correctly. That’s why no file picker opens.

What usually works instead:

  • Use the Files tab in octo4a, not the browser, to upload G-code
  • Or upload G-code from another device on the same network
  • Or move the G-code into octo4a’s local folder manually using a file manager
  • Make sure octo4a has storage permissions enabled

Safe mode will not help here.

You’re not doing anything wrong, this is a common limitation when using OctoPrint from a phone only.
