How to give Pi a static IP over wired

I have read and understood the procedure for getting my Pi on my printer to use the cable and not WiFi (Don't configure WiFi & plug cable in, switch on!).

But i want to assign a fixed IP to my Pi, May i humbly ask how i go about this please?

Vast Networking experience, but extremely limited Pi Experience/

This very depends on your router, because you do it there.

I can give it a 'Always use this IP' associated with its Mac Address, but like my PC/Laptop, can i not assign the Pi a static IP vis a network command?

Th3D recently did a excellent video on this very subject. The directions given are for a wired static IP but similar if you want wifi.
