What is the problem?
I failed to properly update my Octopi version. Had used the Octopi based on buster years ago. Never updated anything. When i attempted to upgrade the OS, it failed midway. So now I have to install it fresh and would prefer to carry over all the Octopi settings.
What did you already try to solve it?
Just collecting info so far
Have you tried running in safe mode?
No, the old image doesn't even boot anymore.
Did running in safe mode solve the problem?
N/A
Systeminfo Bundle
Raspberry Pi 3B+
Ubuntu Buster
The rest I don't remember
The question is: If I do a fresh install of Octopi and mount the old SDcard, can I copy everything over and get Octoprint running with the same settings as before?
By clicking on the Bundle link, it tells you how to get a zip file to put there and you don't have to remember anything.....
Other than that, a backup is all you need to restore your system. But since you may have trashed your old SD, you probably can't get one.
I haven't touched that Pi in over 4 years. There ain't no backup. But I can still mount the microSD card on a different device.
All the configs and uploads, etc. will be saved in /home/pi/.octoprint
. So if you copy the contents of that folder into the same path on the new pi everything should be there.
This will work from a linux based OS, otherwise you can't see that path on windows, only the FAT32 boot partition is visible in that scenario.
Appreciated. That was an easy fix. Installed the current Octopi image with the raspberry pi imager, copied over the .octoprint folder. Reset permissions of the directory, restarted the Pi and it works like before.
