I´m looking for a guide installing "https"

Hello everybody,
please excuse the question of a newbie, but I can´t find any instructions on how to access octoprint via https. I read on the website "... https is available too, with a self-signed certificate (which means your browser will warn you about it being invalid). ..." but that's all.
I'm sure it has been described a thousand times, but I don't find it.

As I recall, you can't use a .local top-level domain for these. The guide may or may not mention this.
