What is the problem?
Trying to get octoprint rolling on a Makerbot Replicator z18, but the octopi won't detect the usb connection.

Changing monitoring state from "Detecting serial port" to "Error: Failed to autodetect serial port, please set it manually."
Failed to autodetect serial port, please set it manually.

What did you already try to solve it?
Lots of google... checked dmesg and the device does show up so raspbian defintiely sees it. Not sure what to make of the /dev/tty* output

Logs (octoprint.log, serial.log or output on terminal tab at a minimum, browser error console if UI issue ... no logs, no support!)

I could be wrong but I don't think the Z18 can be driven from the USB port, that port is just for supplying / uploading files to be printed.

The Gen 5 Makerbot printers cannot be used with octoprint due to the fact they run a proprietary firmware.

If it's this board then it does seem to have a USB Type-B connector on it. (I really don't know their printers, though.)

I followed their support area's how-to-connect and got to here, (having navigated from the MakerBot Replicator Z18 tile in the list).

Thanks, that's a bummer... octoprint seems to have some really great features that the makerbot print application lacks.
