No response to controls or temp readings

What is the problem?
Started up printer, connnected via serial on the UART just like normal. Attempted to home printer via controls and no response. Manually homed printer. Uploaded file to print and noticed no change in temps. Cancelled print and manually printed file from printer with success. I have webcam but, I have no response on controls or temps from printer. Last time I used Octoprint everything worked flawless which was about a week ago.

What did you already try to solve it?
Tried restarting server and different browser (Internet Explorer). Currently trying Chrome just as before (version 79.0.3945.88)

Logs (octoprint.log, serial.log or output on terminal tab at a minimum, browser error console if UI issue ... no logs, no support!)

Additional information about your setup (OctoPrint version, OctoPi version, printer, firmware, browser, operating system, ... as much data as possible)
Octoprint version 1.3.12, Octopi version 17, Qidi X-Max firmware v4.2.6.5, Windows 10

Something is seriously funky in the serial connection to your printer. I would say the baudrate is wrong, but then again OctoPrint receives ok messages that are readable which suggests the baudrate is ok. Could the cabling be wonky or somehow be affected by interference?

I was thinking the same thing but this just happened out of nowhere. I’m going to recheck the cables. What could i do to help eliminate interference... ferrite ring?

  • shorter is better on the cable
  • internal metallic shielding or ferrite core
  • both ends tightly fit in their connectors
  • the Pi is properly powered and not sinking too much power over to the printer board

But then this makes me think that you're using serial-over-GPIO and so you'd then be stuck with the bad UART rather than the good one.

  • Disable the Bluetooth in /boot/config.txt and...
  • sudo raspi-config -> Interfaces -> Serial -> No, Yes
  • Reboot

I appreciate everyone's help. Found the solution. I checked all the UART and serial configuration and it was already as @OutsourcedGuru stated. The problem ended up being the cable. I found some perfect cable laying around; an old PS2 controller. Thick insulating jacket with a full braided shield and drain, and a ferrite ring already on it. After remaking the cable everything worked perfectly just as it had before. Glad it's fixed just still think it's weird it come out of nowhere.
