No Serial Port Found after new image

What is the problem?

In order to update my Python, I took the easy method. I backed up my current Octoprint and copied it to my computer. Then I used a new sd card and Raspberry Pi Imager 2.0.6 to write a new image with the latest Octopi and Octoprint. After booting I get a message of 'No serial port found'. I put the original sd card back in the pi and it starts up just fine with a port of /dev/ttyUSB0. It doesn't seem like it should be this hard.

What did you already try to solve it?

I switched cables, used another sd card, tried safe mode, searched the forum for a similar issue.

Have you tried running in safe mode?

yes

Did running in safe mode solve the problem?

No

Systeminfo Bundle

You can download this in OctoPrint's System Information dialog ... no bundle, no support!)

octoprint-systeminfo-20260217142310.zip (13.3 KB)

Additional information about your setup

OctoPrint version, OctoPi version, printer, firmware, browser, operating system, ... as much data as possible

OctoPrint: 1.11.6
OctoPi: 1.1.0
Raspberry Pi 3B v 1.2
Creality CR-10 Mini
Chrome browser
Windows 10

I don't think this is a hardware issue because I can pop the original sd card back in and everything works fine. I'm stuck.

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

I have my printer working but not sure I have completely solved the problem. I have always had the raspberry pi and the printer on the same power strip so they both turn on together and that has worked for years. I found now that if I turn on the pi first and wait until it finishes booting before I turn on the printer then I can open Octoprint. However, even though I have the check box selected to automatically connect, it does not. If I then press the Connect button, the printer connects and it starts to work.

The other issue has to do with the Filament Sensor Simplified plugin. If I go to the settings page for the plugin and use the test senor function, it works correctly - shows when the filament is and is not present. However it doesn't work when the printer is running. The icon on the header line never changes and, if I cut the filament, it doesn't stop or pause the print.

Is there a better or more recent plugin that will work?

Thanks,
Bob
