OctoPi can't see serial port

What is the problem?

My printer is on and connected, Octopi is set up properly, and yet I get an error saying:

" No serial port found, are you sure your printer is physically connected and supported? Try [refreshing](javascript:void(0)) and if that doesn't help please see the FAQ. "

In the connection tab.

What did you already try to solve it?

I updated my printer's firmware, I followed the FAQ and I tried pronterface. My printer doesn't show up as a serial port

Have you tried running in safe mode?

Yes, but I get the same error

Did running in safe mode solve the problem?

No

Hello @feeish !

Does it show up there?

Have you tried different USB cables? Some only deliver power but no data.

Unplug your printer and then type sudo dmesg --clear. With the printer powered on, plug it in. Type dmesg, capture the output and post it here using the </> preformatted text tool.

If there is no output, then the USB cable is a power only cable.
