Octopi fails at first boot

What is the problem?

Hi everyone, I tried to run Octopi on a Raspberry pi 3 model B v1.2 but a bunch of services fail at the first boot (e.g. Avahi, the webcam daemon tries several times but it stops, Open BSD Secure Shell Script). Then I'm prompted with the username and password, I put the usual pi/raspberry and it says that the login is incorrect. All of this from a keyboard plugged directly in the Pi, neither wifi or ethernet seem to work.

What did you already try to solve it?

I changed SD card, changed power brick and cable (apparently no issue with under voltage)

Have you tried running in safe mode?

Didn'get ot that point

Which keyboard layout do you use?
The image is configured for a us or uk layout (not quite sure which one) so some letters of the username / password might be wrong.

Does the ethernet not work at all? No activity/link lights no nothing?

I tried to write the password in the login field and it's spelled correctly. So I don't think that's the problem.

To be more precise: wifi only I see some blinking lights but it doesn't connect to the router. Ethernet connects to the router because I can see the ip but is unreachable to both ssh or http (might be related to the services that fail at boot).
