Octoprint not responding to events?

What is the problem?
Trying to setup a script to power off printer on an error event, end goal to prevent fire during thermal runaway. Script to turn off printer via GPIO 18 and relay works but Octoprint will not trigger it. Might be related, Octoprint will not automatically connect to the printer on server startup.

What did you already try to solve it?
Changing permissions on scripts, multiple config changes, setting up configs through the GUI.

Octoprint 1.7.3 on Octopi 0.18.0 running on Pi zero W V1.1

Can you share the configuration you're trying to use, as well as a systeminfo bundle?

As a followup, I performed a fresh install of Octopi and the issue is mostly sorted. I'm using a relay, triggered by a GPIO pin and MOSFET, to control power to the printer for thermal runaway control. Now I just have to figure out why it cycles power on/off during startup and everything will be golden.
