Pi4 boot to desktop issue usrnm/psw?

What is the problem?

After I installed the newest version of Octopi on my raspberry pi4, all went well. decided to have it boot to desktop mode, It gave me an error that I needed to install ' sudo apt-get install lighdm' to allow config of boot to desktop.
Did that, it went fine.
Soon as it "logs" into the desktop it ask for login credentials which I assume is for the raspberry itself, It will not accept the username or password. It acts like its going to take it, then refreshes back to the login window.

What did you already try to solve it?

Used every login/psw combo I recently made/use to no results.

Have you tried running in safe mode?

no

Did running in safe mode solve the problem?

n/a

Build 2025.12.01.130812 with "webcamd", based on OctoPi 1.1.0, running on Raspberry Pi 4 Model B Rev 1.5

The OctoPi builds are based on Raspberry Pi OS Lite. The username and password you use to login to a terminal (with an attached keyboard and monitor) or SSH will be the same credentials you use to login to the desktop.

The software necessary to use a desktop needs to be installed and a script is provided to do so, /opt/octopi/scripts/install-desktop. Did you run that script?

If you get a login screen, enter your credentials, and it fails to start the desktop then there is a log file somewhere that should have the cause of the failure in it. You might have to ask in the Raspberry Pi forums.
