Camera model
RaspiCam Module 3
What is the problem?
Installed the Camera Stack OctoPi but i cant seem to get the RPi 5 to detect the Module 3 cam. I have logged onto terminal and ran the necessary Sudo:
sudo apt update
sudo apt install libcamera-apps
Have also used Rpicam-hello (It works with the Rpi OS and once on the octopi)
When i update with sudo update - the whole system crashes and will not reboot.
I just cant seem to make it work - and any advice would help.
What did you already try to solve it?
Installed, reformatted, reinstalled - multiple times
Installed Rpi OS and it detects the cam
intalled octopi - camerastack multiple times - once it detected the camera then it dissapeared after
Have you tried running in safe mode?
Yes
Did running in safe mode solve the problem?
No

Need some support to see what i am doing wrong? Should i update the whole thing again? Do i use the normal Octo Print with the USB Cam?
I did a back up - when i recreate a new Octopi - will the backup overwrite>? or only the plugins used?
i have updated the OS - to the 1.11.5 via the system updates - still doesnt work.
Im lost... ill take any help i can get... preference would be to use the Module 3 - but if i cant then the Logitech

Managed to move ahead somewhat:
refreshed with RPI OS lite
Used this guide to MANUALLY install - GitHub - paukstelis/octoprint_deploy: Bash script for rapid deployment of multiple octoprint instance on a single machine
RPICAM - still does not work
USB Cam - Works
- can take pic
- can see stream on OctoEverywhere dashboard on web browser but not on phone app
- CANNOT see stream on OCTOPI - for the life of me not able to figure this one out - if anyone can give guidance - would be spectacular
Unfortunately, the Raspberry Pi 5 is missing a video hardware encoder that exists in previous versions. This missing encoder has caused many of the "camera solutions" to fail including the ones included with both OctoPi images.

There are additional threads in this forum that discuss the RPi 5 (or RPi5) as a suitable host for OctoPrint with the general concensus that it is overkill. At this point in time, an RPi 4 is a much better choice.
If i were to use a RPi4 as the base - i can run the webcams without issues? USB and if i chose to the Module 3?
This exercise has cost me much... hahaha
Yes, the RPi Camera V3 works on the OctoPi 1.1.0 cam release on an RPi 4 (I have this config). I believe USB cameras will work as well (don't have any USB cameras ATM).
i took the leap and got RPi4.
Question - when i install the Camera stack now - do i upgrade it to 1.11.5 or keep it at 1.11.4 after installing it requests for upgrade
i can 100% confirm - the camera stack upgraded to 1.11.5 - works
Rpi4 2GB - works like a charm - will detect both USB cam AND RaspiCam Module3 without any updates.
confirmed RPi5 - doesnt work
