Serial port connection disappeared

What is the problem? i have been using octoprint for at least a year and the printer has been off for about a week or two. i turned it on today only to find that i no longer can connect to the printer via serial port /dev/ttyUSB0. i cant get it back to that port by adding it manually either it will only show auto. i get the Error: Failed to autodetect serial port, please set it manually.. am i missing something?

What did you already try to solve it?

Additional information about your setup (OctoPrint version, OctoPi version, printer, firmware, octoprint.log, serial.log or output on terminal tab, ...)

Log in via SSH and type lsusb into bash and tell us what you see.
And do a ls /dev/*USB*/ to see it ttyUSB0 is showing up.
Simple checks i'd try:

  • Different USB port
  • Different USB cable (they tend to go bad often)

It really sounds like it's not connected.
Also, what version of Octopi and OctoPrint? Maybe it's time for an update?

Everything is up to date all cords were changed and tried different ports. I did however change the board and it did work immediately. Dunno if it matters but while changing the board I noticed when I went to swap out the as card into the new board the card didn’t looked pushed in all the way in the board I took out. Don’t know if that would affect it but it is working with the new board
