Shut down PI before smart plug switch off

What is the problem?

Like many, I have a smart plug to turn the printer on and off as well as power to the Pi. I have a Tuya scene switch on the wall with a routine to power the socket on and off. What i'd like to happen is the button press triggers a IFTTT action to send a command to the Pi to shutdown, wait X seconds and then turn the plug off.

What did you already try to solve it?

I've looked in to sending a MQTT command from IFTTT to the Pi but i've quick got out of my depth.

Have you tried running in safe mode?

n/a

Did running in safe mode solve the problem?

n/a

If all the delay logic is handled outside of OctoPrint via IFTTT than wouldn't the IFTTT plugin be able to handle the shutdown command?

I see now that the IFTTT plugin is outbound only.
