Unable to connect to Ender 3 Pro

What is the problem?

Octopi will not connect to my Ender 3 pro using the USB port. I tried different usb cables but keep getting the same result. Connecting to windows 10 showd that the drivers were not found. Updated drivers on windows shows the correct device.
Octopi does not show any device when using lsusb command.

What did you already try to solve it?

Tried different cables. Tried reinstall. Tried different USB ports.

Ender 3 Pro with latets mandolin.

First of all - is the printer powered up?
Just connecting it to the USB port might power up the display and some fans but it draws a lot of power which can cause other problems on the pi.

Did you check dmesg ?

Hey,

Tnx for the reply. I placed kapton tape on de 5V pin in the connector. To prevent that the pi is powering the printer. The printer was on ^^.
Dmesg shown nothing of USB. I tried inmod the usbserial and later the ch341.ko. But still nothing.
The same cable worked on the windows pc so it should not be the cable(with the kapton tape placed on the 5V).

Do any other usb devices appear/disappear in dmesg or lsusb when inserted/removed?

lsusb returns nothing. I tried 2 different usb dongles for wireless mouse.

Sounds like there is a problem with the USB ports on your Pi. If you haven't already I would try re-flashing just to be sure.

I tried that. I sued a 32gb first but also on 8gb disk i have the same issue.

Then the next step would be to try another Pi.

I have a pi 2b laying around. I will try to see if that fixes the issue. I checked and i measure no 5V on the outer 2 pins of the usb connector. So i am afraid it is damaged somehow.

update: The pi2 does not want to work with the latest octopi

How is your usb port power cycling and his usb port not working at all the same problem?

I got a pi 3 on my hands from someone and this show more info about the usb. When i'm home i'm gonna check to see if this solves the problem.

I just tried the pi3 and it works. Finally i see the ender 3 pro. Sadly my pi4 is broken. Checked under the microscope and different ic's are broken mechanically.
