Y-Direction Layer Shift

What is the problem?

Sometimes when printing (usually with longer prints) I will get a layer shift in the Y-direction. This occurs at random layer heights.

What did you already try to solve it?

Changed my cable connecting my Pi to my printer. I am now using a cable the supports data transfer and has ferric cores.

Have you tried running in safe mode?

No

Did running in safe mode solve the problem?

I am running Octoprint version 1.8.2 on my Raspberry Pi 4. The Pi is connected to my Ender 3 Pro via a cable for data transfer that has ferric cores at each end. I am using Cura 5.1.0 to slice my models and sending GCODE to the Pi via the print with octoprint plugin. Occasional and so far only with longer prints I have gotten a layer shift. This does not seem to be anything printer related but more file related or reading/interpreting the data.

Hello @MongoMaker !

If this occurs after a certain time of printing, then you may check the motor current and the proper cooling of the stepper drivers. (In this case for the Y-axis)
