Can't change pi cam resolution

Camera model Raspberry Pi Cam

What is the problem? the only resolutions that work are 640x480 (no options specified in octopi.txt) and 1920x1080 (Very zoomed in)

If I set any other resolution, I get no picture at http://192.168.1.34/webcam/?action=stream

What did you already try to solve it? following the guide again very closely at V0.4 Configuring a Raspberry Pi Camera 路 FormerLurker/Octolapse Wiki 路 GitHub

Additional information about your setup (OctoPrint version, OctoPi version, ...)

OctoPrint version : 1.7.3
OctoPi version : 0.18.0

scroll to the bottom of the logs, it includes many attempts.

What are the supported modes? I've tried different modes as suggested here:

https://picamera.readthedocs.io/en/release-1.12/fov.html

camera_usb_options="-r 2592x1944 -f 10" NO PICTURE

camera_usb_options="-r 1920x1080 -f 10" SMALL FOV

camera_usb_options="-r 3280x2464 -f 10" NO PICTURE

I'm not sure if my camera is V1 or V2 (Don't know how to tell?) but I've tried modes for both models and neither seem to work.

It's printed on the camera's board itself if it's an official one:image

What does 1296x972 do?

You can run v4l2-ctl --list-formats-ext, but since a picam supports scaling it's not going to give you a discrete list, instead it's just going to list the min - max. For example, my v1.x cam:

taylor@printerpi:~ $ v4l2-ctl --list-formats-ext -d2
ioctl: VIDIOC_ENUM_FMT
	Type: Video Capture

	[0]: 'YU12' (Planar YUV 4:2:0)
		Size: Stepwise 32x32 - 2592x1944 with step 2/2
	[1]: 'YUYV' (YUYV 4:2:2)
		Size: Stepwise 32x32 - 2592x1944 with step 2/2
	[2]: 'RGB3' (24-bit RGB 8-8-8)
		Size: Stepwise 32x32 - 2592x1944 with step 2/2
	[3]: 'JPEG' (JFIF JPEG, compressed)
		Size: Stepwise 32x32 - 2592x1944 with step 2/2
	[4]: 'H264' (H.264, compressed)
		Size: Stepwise 32x32 - 2592x1944 with step 2/2
	[5]: 'MJPG' (Motion-JPEG, compressed)
		Size: Stepwise 32x32 - 2592x1944 with step 2/2
...

1296x972 seems to work. I never tried that one! Is that the highest I can go, you think?

I don't think my cameras are official pi ones, I don't remember seeing the raspberry graphic. My printer is printing right now and I need to disassemble the camera arm to see the PCB, but I'll check it later. Is there no way to see the model in software?

Here's the output of that other command

ioctl: VIDIOC_ENUM_FMT
Type: Video Capture

[0]: 'YU12' (Planar YUV 4:2:0)
	Size: Stepwise 32x32 - 2592x1944 with step 2/2

	Size: Stepwise 32x32 - 2592x1944 with step 2/2
[2]: 'RGB3' (24-bit RGB 8-8-8)
	Size: Stepwise 32x32 - 2592x1944 with step 2/2
[3]: 'JPEG' (JFIF JPEG, compressed)
	Size: Stepwise 32x32 - 2592x1944 with step 2/2

[10]: 'BGR3' (24-bit BGR 8-8-8)

[13]: 'RX24' (32-bit XBGR 8-8-8-8)
	Size: Stepwise 32x32 - 2592x1944 with step 2/2

That looks like it's a v1.x clone then.

If you want higher resolutions, give this a try: OctoPrint-CameraSettings/setup.md at a7e444f5f827c32e62e05a52a15c0745474693ca 路 The-EG/OctoPrint-CameraSettings 路 GitHub

Hmmm, I set the max res as per the doc but still no dice. Should I be prescriptively following the modes listed in the next link, or can I choose my own?

https://picamera.readthedocs.io/en/release-1.12/fov.html

I tried camera_usb_options="-r 2592x1944 -f 10" but I get no picture after a reboot. I've put it back to 1296x972
