Hello,
I am considering buying a Qidi Tech Pro printer. I love OctoPrint (actually with a CR10) and will only purchase it if OctoPrint is compatible. Is it?
With same possibilities than with my CR10 ?

Hello @2cv001 !
There are different Qidi Tech Pro. Which one?
The Q1? The X-CF?
The Q1 runs some kind of Klipper (I don't know of any printer that runs genuine Klipper pre installed)
So it would run out of the box with OctoPrint. Better say: Almost impossible. And that is no Klipper issue, it is the way the manufacturer implements Klipper.
Hello @Ewald_Ikemann !
Sorry, it is a Q1.
So it's not easy to do. Probably impossible. Too bad for me I like Octoprint.
I found this :
Where they say it is ok for Qidi Tech Pro Q1
Even with a Raspberry
They connect it with USB but use a plugin "SimplyPrint"
I don't know SimplyPrint but perhaps we are obliged to use the cloud so it's not what I whant.
Do you know ?
is a cloud based print server.
It is questionable if OctoPrint is of any use with that.
I also have a Qidi Q1 Pro. Also really like Octoprint, and regularly use it for my old Ender 3 v2. Qidi Link is OK, but much prefer Octoeverywhere, so I investigated using this SimplyPrint plugin for the Q1 Pro... in theory, it should all work - would just need a Raspberry Pi connected to the USB.
Unfortunately, when checking the compatibility on the SimplyPrint website, it shows a requirement of Moonraker v0.8.0 and higher (circa 2023). Currently, the Q1 Pro with the latest Firmware (as of 20/01/2025 anyway) is using Monnraker v0.7.1-609-gbdd0222-dirty from circa 2021. I cannot see Qidi Tech updating Moonraker or Klipper on this machine anytime soon.
It's a shame, but this is a No Go on stock machine.
You could install custom firmware "OpenQ1" (if happy losing the touch screen), but my machine prints so well I really don't want to mess around with it.
Ah, updating my previous post.....eventually found a really simple way. Actually, Octoprint appears to be natively enabled on the Qidi firmware, but just not installed.
SSH into your IP address / machine, then follow the instructions from
Free Setup In Less Than 20 Seconds | OctoEverywhere, choosing the Klipper/Fuidd/Mainsail version and installing alongside the Qidi OS via the command
bash <(curl -s https://octoeverywhere.com/install.sh)
That gives you access to your Fluidd UI via the octoeverywhere.com servers, plus at least another two 3D printers (free account). Then install the OctoApp onto your mobile device for Octoprint.
The above is enough for me, as I now have AI print monitoring, and still access octoprint for my other printer from the same front end on PC and mobile.
Obviously, octoprint is not actually installed on the SBC controlling the machine. If you want to replicate octoprint running the machine on windows (I did not), then you could follow this guide...
