Error updating 1.6.1 to 1.7.3

What is the problem?

I'm getting an update error whenever I try to update from 1.6.1 to 1.7.3.

What did you already try to solve it?

I have tried restarting the server before updating, using safe mode, manually removing power from the pi and reapplying power before trying. None of these seem to work.

Did running in safe mode solve the problem?

Trying to update OctoPrint on OctoPi 0.16 gives me an "AssertionError" about "assert have_directory_for_build", how do I solve this?
