Octopi to printer connection problem

I have octoprint loaded and connected to my network and computer on Rasbery Pi 3.
I get the octoprint screen, but it won't connect to the printer. Monoprice 200V2. I press the connect button but always give the failed message in the setup window. I have looked at forums and they seem to talk a lot about serial ports. dmesg, and other stuff I am sadly ignorant on. I could really use some layman termed guidance.

Thanks

Try it again with the Malyan/Monoprice Connection Fix plugin

When you created this new topic, the screen was filled with instructions like Read this first! Remember to provide version numbers, relevant log files and general information about your setup.

Since you ignored those instructions, there is very little we can do to provide assistance. If you provide the additional information, then someone will gladly try and help.

i am trying to update the post with new info but i get a message that says new users can only put 2 links in a post. I'm not sure what that refers too. Any help? thanks

Try it again, I've adjusted your rights.

B-morgan, thanks.
I will try again and hopefully a bit better this time.

I can't connect to our printer from Rasbery Pi3. the connect button on Octoprint leads to the failure statement: Error: Failed to autodetect serial port, please set it manually.

I have Octoprint 1.4.0 running on Octopi 0.17.0 on windows 10
the printer is Monoprice mp select V2

below are the Octoprint.log and Serial.log

if you are able to help thanks. Happy to provide additional info, please just let me know. still very knew to this whole thing.

From the serial.log, the Serial port list is empty and I'm guessing that's not a good thing. Further debugging is going to involve using Linux commands on the RPi. I'll assume you have a Windows desktop machine so the first step is to install PuTTY. Using PuTTY, you will connect to the RPi using the username "Pi" and the password you changed.

Follow the steps in this thread which should help identify how the printer presents itself to the RPi.

Keep track of each step you take in this process and be prepared to provide those steps and as much information as you can capture here so we can help you solve this problem.
