We've seen somereports here on the forums that this particular printer either ships with a broken SD card or has a firmware but that causes the SD file list command that OctoPrint does on connect to never complete, effectively locking up the printer.
If you experience an issue like this, power off your printer, eject the SD card from your printer, power it back on and try connecting again.
I ran into the same issue with a Creality Ender 3 S1. Come to find out that my SD card had a few prints with a special character as the first character in the filename such as an exclamation mark . After renaming the files and removing any special characters, I was able to connect to the printer without it locking up and having the SD card inserted.
